Online MBA Admissions Chat with BeatTheGMAT.com on Thursday

Hey everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.  I just wanted to write to tell you about a chat session that I am having with BeatTheGMAT.com (BTG) this Thursday.  On Thursday at 11am CST, BTG will host a chat session with me, where I’ll discuss what it takes to get into Kellogg, the JD-MBA program and the law school. This will be part of an ongoing series of chats, where I’ll not only provide tips for applying but also share my experiences at Kellogg and the JD-MBA program.

If you’re interested in learning more about Northwestern or business school generally, I hope to join the call this Thursday. Likewise, you should also feel free to pass the information along to any others that might find the webinar useful. Friends that are considering business school, JD-MBA programs, or Kellogg. And if they are interested but can’t make this one, no big deal. This will be part of an ongoing series of chats that I’ll be taking part in every two weeks, which will happen over the course of the next few months.

Hi Jeremy,

I like your blog because a lot of useful information is posted. Regarding my situation, I am a prospective law school student. I have already scored 172 on the LSAT. I was curious how many hours of reading/studying outside of class you had to do each week to maintain decent grades–let’s say top 20% (3.5/4.0) in your class. Also, do you think that the cases are somewhat dense reading material? I am worried that I would get burned out from so much reading. What are your thoughts on the law school student experience? I would imagine that it is somewhat lonely and isolated. Do you struggle understanding the logic behind the cases? For instance, you would have to read one case (Terry v. Ohio) over a couple of times to really understand it, correct?. Any information you could provide would be very helpful.

@Dave Great question! And congrats on the LSAT score. In short, at law school, everyone works hard, particularly in the first year. While it can be at times feel like an isolating and demanding environment there are also many ways to make law school very enjoyable. I’ll plan to put up a response for you shortly. Stay tuned!
